Frazier Appointed Senior Vice President

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 2007--Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE:WMI) today announced Brett Frazier was promoted to senior vice president of the Eastern Group, which encompasses 15 states in the Eastern U.S. He succeeds James E. Trevathan who has assumed the role of senior vice president of the 12-state Southern Group following the retirement of David R. Hopkins, who is retiring after more than 25 years in the waste industry.

Frazier joined Waste Management in 2000. He was promoted to vice president of collections operations support after serving as vice president of operations improvement. Before that time, Frazier was market area general manager of the Houston metro area, which under his leadership was recognized in 2005 with the company's highest honor for operational performance. Before joining Waste Management, he spent 19 years in the industry and has held operational, sales and management positions in Texas, California and Arizona.

Dave Hopkins' career spans more than a quarter century in the solid waste industry. He came to Waste Management in 1998, and most recently he has been the leader of the Southern Group. Before that role, he served as CEO of the company's international business that had operations in 21 countries. He also directed the implementation of the company's strategic plan to divest those operations in 2000, as Waste Management refocused on its core North American business.

Before leading the Eastern Group, Jim Trevathan served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Waste Management, and has held a number of positions including vice president of sales and marketing for the Southern Group, general manager for environmental remediation and region vice president - industrial services. Before joining Waste Management, he worked in various sales and marketing positions with the Stauffer Chemical Company.
